Whittier Primary School

Three types of window systems were replaced: original opaque insulated panels above hopper units, west wing original uninsulated steel/aluminum fi xed and projected sash storefront, as well as a prior overlay of opaque panels and limited operable sash who’s history of leakage and energy loss was evident from when fi rst installed.

All windows were replaced with high-performance thermally-broken aluminum frames. The majority of the opaque panels were replaced with dual-glazed sash with integral horizontal blinds, with operable hoppers below, to enhance daylighting of the classrooms.

Storefront areas combined subframing with stacked fi xed-operable assemblies spanning the three-story height and to redirect any moisture penetrating between the assemblies back thru the subframe to the exterior weeps.
