Interior walls were demolished and replaced with masonry corridor walls, with metal lockers. Exterior curtain wall construction was demolished and replaced with concrete block and brick veneer, with insulated replacement windows. Sufficient energy savings were realized with these building envelope modifications that the 6-classroom addition and gymnasium/sports addition did not require expansion of existing boiler equipment.

The gymnasium/link connected the High School with the Grade/ Jr. High School. A multi-use “Commons” provides an enclosed link between buildings, as well as cafeteria overflow, small group meeting space, and basketball and other activity intermission space with concessions. The High School office was relocated to the new Commons area to provide accessibility to the high school, as well as a secure entry. After gymnasium/link was completed, the original High School gym was remodeled into three, computer classrooms, and one stepped-floor lecture classroom.

The 6 classroom addition was begun in the spring and was completed in time for fall occupancy. Other interior remodeling, i.e., kitchen expansion, and gymnasium addition, and construction of computer classrooms progressed on a carefully scheduled and sequenced timetable.
